Zar hand evaluation

Zar-Hand evaluation

I refer gladly to the paper of mr. Zar Petkov himself : Never miss a game again.

Having read the paper of mr. Petkov, how do we map this on Jazz16?

  • open 1♦/♥/♠ from 26 zarpunten onwards (zp). If you have sufficient hp-strength , just open accordingly. The zar-count comes in handy in border cases where you search for a justification to open (where others may pass).
  • We open (the strong) 1♣ from 32 zp onwards. . Partner answers 1♦ with 8-19 zarpoints. From 20 zp onwards you (32+20=52) you make the bidding game forcing. This also means that with a lousy 16hp hand like HB108 VB75 AVB Vx, where before we would open with 1♣ , we now should open with 1♦ (Zar 29).
  • apply the preëmptive openings ( 2x/3x) with 22-25 zarpoints. The simple message is " I do not have 26zp" .

We experienced that reading these pages when using zp's is rather difficult. To preserve the readability we keep on using the Milton-counting. Nevertheless the zar-counting remains valid and is a good measurement to validate hands with distribution power and control cards. We apply following agreement :
